Virtual CFO services
A part-time CFO to fix your numbers and help you grow
Your accountant looks back at last year. A Virtual CFO looks ahead and helps you act.
We clean up your finances, bring old systems up to date and build a clear plan to grow profit and cash. You get a senior CFO for a set monthly fee, without a full-time CFO salary.

Your CFO team
Senior CFOs who get to know your business
You work with real people, not a call centre. Your CFO learns how your business runs, sits in on your monthly numbers and picks up the phone when you need a second opinion.
- Led by Tom Simic, 2025 CAANZ Young Chartered Accountant of the Year
- Based in Geelong and Melbourne, working with businesses across Australia
- Backed by our own in-house bookkeeping team
Does this sound familiar?
- “We’re making sales, but there’s never any cash.”
- “We’ve done it the same way for 30 years.”
- “I find out how we went months too late.”
- “I don’t know which jobs actually make money.”
- “The bank wants a forecast and I don’t have one.”
- “I want to grow, but can we afford it?”
Every one of these can be fixed. Most owners we meet have two or three at once.
Four ways a CFO turns a business around
Most turnarounds follow the same path. We start where you are now and move as fast as your business can.
Step 1
Clean up the mess
Best for: owners who don’t trust their numbers, or who are behind with the ATO.
“I don’t trust my own numbers.”
What we do
- Books caught up and fixed in Xero
- Late BAS and ATO debts sorted, with a payment plan if needed
- Money owed to you chased, and supplier terms reset
- The true profit of every job, product or site
- A 13-week cash flow forecast, so there are no nasty surprises
- A clear list of what to fix first
Step 2
Bring old systems into the future
Best for: businesses still running on paper, spreadsheets or old desktop software.
“We’ve done it the same way for 30 years.”
What we do
- Paper, spreadsheets and old software moved into Xero
- Simple apps for bills, timesheets, job costing and stock
- Systems connected, so data flows on its own
- No more typing the same thing in twice
- Approvals set up, so you still sign off every payment
- Your team trained, so the new way sticks
Step 3
Plan with clear numbers
Best for: owners making big calls on gut feel.
“I’m making big decisions without clear numbers.”
What we do
- A budget and targets for the year ahead
- 12-month and 3-year forecasts, with best, normal and worst cases
- Pricing and margin reviews to find where profit leaks
- Simple KPI dashboards your whole team can read
- Tax planning, so there are no shocks at year end
- A monthly meeting with your CFO to check progress
Step 4
Scale fast, raise money or sell
Best for: businesses ready for their next big step.
“We’re ready to grow, but we can’t afford to get it wrong.”
What we do
- Models for new sites, products or hires before you commit
- Reports and forecasts that banks and investors trust
- Help to get a loan or raise money
- Monthly board meetings and executive reports
- Your business made ready to sell, for a better price
- Support through due diligence when a buyer checks your books

Client turnarounds
What this looks like in real businesses. Client names are kept private.
Hospitality group, Sydney
From a stretched flagship to a clear plan for site two
Before
A busy flagship store with very high rent, a second site already signed, and numbers spread across too many systems.
What we did
Worked out the true profit of every product, cleaned up and connected the software, built a 3-year forecast and a full model for the new site, and set up weekly cash forecasts with two-person payment approval.
After
The owners know which products and sites make money. They are opening the next site with a plan, not a guess.
Real estate group, Geelong
From spreadsheets to numbers the whole team understands
Before
The founder ran the business from Excel spreadsheets and basic profit and loss reports. Only she could read them.
What we did
Built simple visual reports for every part of the business, and set up regular CFO meetings to set bigger goals and track them.
After
“They’re able to make really good decisions because they understand every part of the business now.” Megan Rovers, Founder and CEO
Family trade business, regional Victoria
30 years of paper, brought online in 90 days
Before
Paper timesheets, handwritten job sheets and old desktop software. The owner only found out how a job went weeks after it finished.
What we did
Moved the business into Xero with digital timesheets and job costing, set up a weekly report on every job, and repriced two job types that were losing money.
After
The owner sees how every job is tracking each week, and month end is no longer a scramble.

Engineering business, Melbourne
Back from the edge on cash
Before
Sales were strong, but the bank account kept running dry. ATO debt was growing and suppliers were chasing.
What we did
Built a 13-week cash flow forecast, set up an ATO payment plan, tightened invoicing and debt collection, and cut costs that weren’t paying their way.
After
Cash is planned weeks ahead, the ATO is paid and the business is back to a steady profit.

Common questions
Can’t find your answer? Book a call and ask us directly.
What does a Virtual CFO do?
A Virtual CFO is a senior finance expert who works with you part time. They forecast your cash flow, set budgets and targets, track KPIs and help you make big calls like hiring, raising money or selling. You get CFO-level advice without a full-time salary.
How is a Virtual CFO different from my accountant?
Your accountant mostly looks back. They do your tax and keep you right with the ATO. A Virtual CFO looks forward. They help you plan cash flow, lift profit and make better decisions every month.
Can you work with my current accountant?
Yes. Many clients keep their accountant for tax, and we handle the planning. We can also manage tax planning and ATO lodgements if you would rather have one team.
Our systems are really old. Is it too late to change?
No. We often work with businesses that have run the same way for decades. We move you across in stages, keep what works and train your team, so the business keeps running while we update it.
How fast will we see results?
Most clients get quick wins in the first 90 days, like a clear view of cash and fixing prices that lose money. Bigger gains in profit and cash flow build over the first year.
Is a Virtual CFO cheaper than a full-time CFO?
Usually, yes. The median salary for a full-time SME CFO in Melbourne is $226,600 before super, according to the Robert Half 2026 Salary Guide, plus recruitment and leave. A Virtual CFO gives you senior experience for a set monthly fee.
What size businesses do you work with?
We work with ambitious businesses turning over $2M to $50M a year, plus a small number of start-ups with big plans.
Do you only work with businesses in Geelong and Melbourne?
No. Our advisors are based in Geelong and Melbourne, and we work with businesses right across Australia.
How much does a Virtual CFO cost?
It depends on the level of help you need and the size of your business. After a free call, we give you a clear monthly fee before any work starts.
